Here is a stunning piece of news from the paddock: Ferrari have announced that Alba Larsen is coming back for a third campaign in F1 Academy, locking in her place on the grid for the 2027 season. That makes the young Dane the absolute first driver to ever contest a third season in the all-female series. This opportunity comes straight on the back of a crucial rule change introduced last year, which opens up a third year exclusively for drivers whose performances show strong potential for continued growth.
It is quite the journey for the 17-year-old, who was originally signed by the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy midway through her debut 2025 season. During that first year, she managed to bag 10 top-10 finishes driving the Tommy Hilfiger car. When she switched over to the Ferrari car for this year, things stepped up even further. She recently claimed her very first podium in the championship, delivering stunning back-to-back P2 finishes at Zandvoort.
Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me.
The results keep rolling in, too. Alongside her single-seater duties in the main series, she also grabbed her first win in British F4 earlier this season. Right now, she sits fourth in the drivers’ standings with just two rounds left on the calendar at Austin and Las Vegas.
Reflecting on the milestone, Larsen shared her thoughts on the journey so far: "After two years in F1 ACADEMY, I’ve seen first-hand how much this series has grown and how important it’s become." She also credited the driving force behind the championship, adding, "Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me."
"I’ve grown a lot here too," Larsen continued. "I’m really proud to be part of it and can’t wait to be back on the grid with Scuderia Ferrari HP in 2027.” With her future sorted well in advance, all eyes remain on how she closes out her current campaign.
