Here is a piece of news that matters for the future of the grid: Ferrari have locked in Alba Larsen to become the very first driver to contest a third campaign in F1 Academy. The Dane will keep her place as part of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy for next season, locking down her seat for 2027 early.
This move is made possible by a rule change announced last year, designed exclusively for drivers whose performances show strong potential for continued growth. It is a massive vote of confidence in a young talent who has been steadily building momentum in these racing machines.
After two years in F1 ACADEMY, I’ve seen first-hand how much this series has grown and how important it’s become,
Larsen joined the SFDA midway through her debut F1 Academy season in 2025, where she put together 10 top-10 finishes in the Tommy Hilfiger car. She then switched to the Ferrari car for this year, recently breaking through to claim her first podium in the series with back-to-back P2 finishes in Zandvoort. On top of that international campaign, the 17-year-old also grabbed her first win in British F4 earlier this season.
Right now, she sits fourth in the drivers’ standings with two rounds left to race in Austin and Las Vegas. Looking ahead to her landmark third year, Larsen shared her thoughts on the journey so far.
"After two years in F1 ACADEMY, I’ve seen first-hand how much this series has grown and how important it’s become," said Larsen. "Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me. I’ve grown a lot here too. I’m really proud to be part of it and can’t wait to be back on the grid with Scuderia Ferrari HP in 2027.”
