Campos Racing have secured the signature of Mattia Colnaghi for the 2027 FIA Formula 3 season. It is a massive move for the young charger, who is stepping into the reigning Driver and Teams’ champions camp after a solid debut campaign.
Colnaghi wrapped up his rookie year 13th in the Standings with 54 points. That first season gave him the grounding he needed, but his CV before entering the championship already spoke volumes about his speed. The 18-year-old took the 2024 Spanish F4 title before charging to the 2025 Eurocup-3 championship.
We will work with him throughout the winter to make sure we are as well prepared as possible for what will be a very demanding season,
Now, he takes that formidable single-seater pedigree to Campos. "Very happy to join forces with Campos Racing for the 2027 FIA Formula 3 season," said Colnaghi. "Having raced against the team in previous categories, I’ve always had great respect for them and the success they’ve achieved across the feeder series, especially in F3 as reigning Team and Drivers’ Champions."
He clearly believes the machinery and the mindset match his own ambitions. "After winning championships in previous categories and gaining a year of valuable experience in F3, I believe that together with Campos, we have the potential to fight for big results in 2027. Excited to get to work during post-season testing and build towards a great season," Colnaghi added.
Team Principal Adrián Campos made it clear they expect the new signing to pull his weight right away as they defend their crown. “We are very proud to welcome Mattia to our FIA Formula 3 driver line-up for 2027. He is an extremely talented driver and has shown his ability to fight for wins and championships from his very first steps in single-seaters," said Campos.
The winter months will be all about preparation for the demanding calendar ahead. "We will work with him throughout the winter to make sure we are as well prepared as possible for what will be a very demanding season," Campos noted, setting the team's stall out. "After the results we have achieved over the past two years, our goal is to continue fighting at the front and defend the titles we have secured this year. We are confident that Mattia has everything it takes to help us achieve that."
