Here is the thing, you wait all weekend for the racing to kick off, and then weather and visibility deal a cruel blow. The MotoGP Grand Prix race at the Red Bull Grand Prix of Australia has been cancelled. That is not all, as the Moto2 and Moto3 races are called off too.
Why? It comes down to safety and the operation of the medical helicopter. Due to limited visibility affecting the aircraft, running the events simply could not happen.
Thankfully, there is a small gesture planned as a farewell to Phillip Island. The MotoGP riders will take to the circuit for a parade lap behind the safety car, stopping on the main straight to greet the fans directly.
Keep an eye on the clock if you are following the proceedings on the ground. The pit lane will open for this farewell lap at 15:45 local time.
