That is a proper shake-up in the paddock. Dominique Aegerter has locked in his racing future for 2027, signing a deal to join PTR Triumph Racing for the upcoming World Supersport campaign.
It has been quite a journey for the Swiss rider. After claiming back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022—racking up 10 wins and 16 podiums in his first year with Ten Kate Racing on the Yamaha R6, followed by a staggering 17 wins from 23 races to defend his crown alongside a MotoE World Cup win—he stepped up to WorldSBK. Racing with the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team, the #77 started strong with a front row in Australia and a pair of rostrums at Jerez.
It’s great news for us to announce the signing of Domi Aegerter for the PTR Triumph Racing Team in 2027 as we continue as a Triumph supported team with the new Triumph Street Triple 798 RS,
When that stint cooled off, he headed back to WorldSSP for 2026 with the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team on the ZX-6R 636 machine. Adapting to the class again wasn't easy, but he finished the year on a charge. Eighth in Race 2 at Estoril and fifth in Race 1 at Jerez preceded a standout second-place finish behind his then-teammate Jeremy Alcoba, securing a historic 1-2 for Kawasaki in the category for the first time in ten years.
Now, he shifts to a third different brand, jumping onto the Street Triple 798 RS with Simon Buckmaster's squad.
"I’m truly relieved to have secured my future to continue in top level racing for 2027," Aegerter said. "I’m excited to announce that I’ve signed with the PTR Triumph Racing team, led by Simon Buckmaster. I’m very happy to continue racing in World Supersport with a professional team. I’ve known Simon in the paddock a long time, we were in contact a few times when he was racing with a different manufacturer. I’m looking forward to the new season and also for the first test with the Triumph bike. During the winter for sure I will give my best during the training sessions with the bike and also in the gym for my fitness level to get even better and mentally as well. I’d like to thank Triumph and Simon for their trust in me and of course a big thanks to all my supporters, fans and sponsors who help keep me racing and keep me motivated and this helps me a lot so a big thanks to everyone and see you in 2027."
Team Manager Buckmaster is equally eager to get to work with the heavy hitter.
"It’s great news for us to announce the signing of Domi Aegerter for the PTR Triumph Racing Team in 2027 as we continue as a Triumph supported team with the new Triumph Street Triple 798 RS," Buckmaster stated. "Also, at the start we will make a back-to-back test with our current race winning bike to make sure that when we start in Australia, we have the best possible chance with a winning package. As we know, Domi has been one of the most successful riders in World Supersport and towards the end of the season on the Kawasaki, was back on form. We look forward to continuing that, we want to work to make the final step and challenge for the World Championship. We know we’ve got the staff; we know we’ve got the team, the environment and now with Domi, the right rider so it’s up to us to work together as a great team as we always do to make it happen in 2027."
