Here is a stunning piece of news from the paddock: Ferrari have announced that Alba Larsen is coming back for a third campaign in F1 Academy, locking in her place on the grid for the 2027 season. That makes the Dane the very first driver to ever land a third season in the all-female championship.
This historic move is made possible by a rule change introduced last year, which grants an extra season exclusively to drivers whose performances show strong potential for continued growth. It is a massive vote of confidence in the 17-year-old, who remains part of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy.
Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me.
Larsen's journey with the program has been a wild upward trajectory. Signed by the SFDA midway through her debut 2025 season in the Tommy Hilfiger car, she managed 10 top-10 finishes. Shifting over to the Ferrari car this year, she recently broke through for her first podium in the series by securing back-to-back P2 finishes in Zandvoort. Add in her first win in British F4 earlier this season, and the machine is clearly hitting its stride.
Right now, she sits fourth in the drivers’ standings with two rounds remaining in Austin and Las Vegas. Reflecting on the announcement, Larsen shared her excitement for what lies ahead.
"After two years in F1 ACADEMY, I’ve seen first-hand how much this series has grown and how important it’s become," said Larsen. "Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me."
"I’ve grown a lot here too. I’m really proud to be part of it and can’t wait to be back on the grid with Scuderia Ferrari HP in 2027."
