Here is some genuinely massive news from the paddock: Alba Larsen is staying put. Ferrari have officially announced that the Dane will become the first driver ever to contest a third campaign in F1 Academy, locking in her seat for next season as part of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy.
It is a massive vote of confidence, made possible by a rule change introduced last year that grants a third season exclusively to drivers whose performances show strong potential for continued growth. And let me tell you, the journey has been quite something. Larsen was originally signed by the SFDA midway through her debut 2025 season, pulling off 10 top-10 finishes in the Tommy Hilfiger car.
Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me.
Switching over to the Ferrari car this year, she has truly found her stride. She recently claimed her maiden podium in the series with stunning back-to-back P2 finishes in Zandvoort, alongside scoring her very first win in British F4 earlier this season.
The 17-year-old currently sits a brilliant fourth in the drivers’ standings with just two rounds left to run in Austin and Las Vegas. It is a formidable trajectory for a young talent still very much on the rise.
Reflecting on the announcement, Larsen shared her excitement for what lies ahead. "After two years in F1 ACADEMY, I’ve seen first-hand how much this series has grown and how important it’s become," she said. "Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me."
"I’ve grown a lot here too. I’m really proud to be part of it and can’t wait to be back on the grid with Scuderia Ferrari HP in 2027,” she added. With her speed and backing, next year cannot come soon enough.
