Here is a stunning piece of news for the future of the grid: Ferrari has officially announced that Alba Larsen is coming back for a third campaign in F1 Academy, locking in her place with the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy for next season.
Let me tell you, this makes the Dane the absolute first driver to ever contest a third season in the all-female series. That opportunity opened up thanks to a rule change announced last year, which is specifically meant for drivers whose performances show massive potential for continued growth.
Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me.
Larsen originally joined the SFDA midway through her debut F1 Academy season in 2025, where she racked up 10 top-10 finishes in the Tommy Hilfiger car. Moving over to the Ferrari car this year, she recently broke through for her first podium in the series by bagging back-to-back P2 finishes in Zandvoort.
The 17-year-old currently holds fourth place in the drivers' standings, with only two rounds left to go in Austin and Las Vegas. On top of that impressive run, she also managed to take her first win in British F4 earlier this season.
Reflecting on the announcement, Larsen shared: "After two years in F1 ACADEMY, I’ve seen first-hand how much this series has grown and how important it’s become." She added, "Susie [Wolff, F1 ACADEMY Managing Director] and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me."
She finished with a look ahead: "I’ve grown a lot here too. I’m really proud to be part of it and can’t wait to be back on the grid with Scuderia Ferrari HP in 2027.”
