Now, here is a bit of physical maintenance for you. Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) has taken to social media to update fans after successfully going under the knife following the Malaysian GP. The #73 had a busy trip to the hospital, undergoing a procedure on his right collarbone, left hand and right shoulder.
Let me tell you, the operation itself was quite extensive. Speaking on social media, Alex Marquez explained: "Yesterday I underwent surgery at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid to remove osteosynthesis material from my right collarbone and left hand. Additionally, during the same surgical procedure, they performed an arthroscopic bursectomy on my right shoulder."
That makes the #73's recent on-track exploits even wilder to consider. He enjoyed an impressive weekend in Malaysia, securing pole position before going on to claim third on Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately, the celebrations had to be cut short. Immediately following the podium festivities, Alex Marquez announced that he would fly straight to Madrid for the operations.
The ultimate goal now? Returning to action in Portugal. We certainly wish him a speedy recovery.
