Here is the news for the 2027 motorsport season: the FIA Formula 2 Championship and FIA Formula 3 Championship have officially locked in their calendars for the campaign. Both junior single-seater categories will maintain their status supporting Formula 1 throughout the year, with F2 laying out a 14-round schedule while Formula 3 will contest 10 rounds alongside the grand prix circus.
Now, the travel plans for the upcoming season bring some wild new additions. F2 makes its return to Montreal after visiting Canada for the first time in 2026, while Mexico City joins the slate for the very first time. Istanbul also enters the fold, hosting an F2 race for the opening time in this era of the championship. Meanwhile, the F3 grid is set to tackle Jeddah and Montreal for their first appearances, with their season finale taking place at that same new venue in Istanbul.
Both championships get their campaigns underway in March in Bahrain and Jeddah, before jumping across to Melbourne in April and Montreal in May. June brings the classic trip to Monaco, which leads directly into a pair of back-to-back weekends at Silverstone and Spielberg. After the summer break, the action fires back up in Monza before a stop in Madrid.
The final stretches of the year separate the two series. F2 heads to Azerbaijan as the sole supporting category in September before both join F1 in Istanbul, which marks the end of the road for the F3 season. F2 then finishes its year by heading to Mexico at the end of October, followed by the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, emphasized the importance of the pathway: “The 2027 FIA Formula 2 calendar will deliver another exciting season of racing across 14 rounds at some of the most iconic and challenging venues in world motorsport, including the addition of Istanbul and Mexico City.”
Bruno Michel, FIA Formula 2 CEO, highlighted the logistics of expanding across four continents: “I’m very excited to add three new venues in a financially sustainable way, with the return of Montreal following its surprise addition in 2026 and the first appearance of Istanbul and Mexico City. We will be covering freight costs so that the territorial expansion of the calendar does not financially impact our teams.”
