Here's the thing about the junior single-seater ladder: when the calendars drop, you look immediately for the new stops. The FIA Formula 2 Championship and FIA Formula 3 Championship have officially announced their respective slates for the 2027 campaign, and both series will once again support Formula 1 across the season.
F2 is locked in for 14 rounds, while Formula 3 will feature at 10 rounds. Both championships kick things off in March in Bahrain and Jeddah, before making the long trips to Melbourne in April and Montreal in May. For F2, Montreal marks a return after racing in Canada for the first time in 2026, while F3 visits Jeddah and Montreal for the very first time.
From there, the rhythm settles into June around Monaco, followed by back-to-back weekends at Silverstone and Spielberg. After the summer break, both championships get back to business in Monza before heading over to Madrid.
Then the schedules diverge in the final stretch. F2 stands alone as the supporting championship in Azerbaijan in September, before both F2 and F3 join F1 in Istanbul. That Istanbul round serves as the season finale for Formula 3, marking its debut as a venue for the FIA Formula 2 era and a first-time season-ending location for F3. F2, meanwhile, pushes on to Mexico City at the end of October—joining the calendar for the first time alongside F2's return to Montreal—before wrapping up its campaign with final stops in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, emphasized the importance of the pathway: “The 2027 FIA Formula 2 calendar will deliver another exciting season of racing across 14 rounds at some of the most iconic and challenging venues in world motorsport, including the addition of Istanbul and Mexico City.” He also noted the championship's role in letting promising young drivers showcase their talent to the pinnacle of the sport.
Bruno Michel, FIA Formula 2 CEO, highlighted the logistics behind the expansion: “I’m very excited to add three new venues in a financially sustainable way, with the return of Montreal following its surprise addition in 2026 and the first appearance of Istanbul and Mexico City. We will be covering freight costs so that the territorial expansion of the calendar does not financially impact our teams.”
