Here is the thing, the junior single-seater ladder is packing its bags for quite a journey. The FIA Formula 2 Championship and FIA Formula 3 Championship have officially locked in their schedules for the 2027 campaign, continuing to support Formula 1 across the season.
F2 will contest 14 rounds next year, while Formula 3 will line up for 10 rounds alongside the grand circus. The itineraries bring some massive new challenges and destinations for both grids.
For F2, the machine heads back to Montreal following its initial run in Canada in 2026, while Mexico City joins the slate for the very first time. Istanbul also rolls onto the calendar, hosting an F2 race for the inaugural time in this era. Meanwhile, Formula 3 is set to tackle Jeddah and Montreal for the first time, wrapping up its season at that same brand-new Istanbul venue.
Both categories kick off their campaigns in March down in Bahrain and Jeddah, before shipping off to Melbourne in April and Montreal in May. June brings the classic test around the tight streets of Monaco, followed immediately by back-to-back weekends at Silverstone and Spielberg.
After the summer break, the action fires back up at Monza before a trip to Madrid. F2 handles Azerbaijan alone as the sole supporting championship in September, before both series converge in Istanbul for what serves as the season-ending F3 round. F2 then closes out its own year with a trip to Mexico at the end of October, followed by the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, emphasized the importance of the pathway: “The 2027 FIA Formula 2 calendar will deliver another exciting season of racing across 14 rounds at some of the most iconic and challenging venues in world motorsport, including the addition of Istanbul and Mexico City.”
Bruno Michel, FIA Formula 2 CEO, addressed the logistics of this global expansion: “I’m very excited to add three new venues in a financially sustainable way, with the return of Montreal following its surprise addition in 2026 and the first appearance of Istanbul and Mexico City. We will be covering freight costs so that the territorial expansion of the calendar does not financially impact our teams.”
