Here is the blueprint for the future stars of motorsport, because the FIA Formula 2 Championship and FIA Formula 3 Championship have officially dropped their respective calendars for the 2027 campaign. Both junior single-seater series will continue to serve as support acts to Formula 1 throughout the year, with F2 locked in for 14 rounds while Formula 3 takes on 10 rounds alongside them.
The schedules bring some wild new additions and exciting changes of scenery. For F2, the championship heads back to Montreal after making its first appearance in Canada in 2026, while Mexico City joins the slate for the very first time. Istanbul is also stepping up to host an F2 event for the first time in the modern era of the championship. Meanwhile, Formula 3 is expanding its horizons by visiting Jeddah and Montreal for the first time, with its season finale set to unfold at the brand new venue in Istanbul.
Both championships kick off their engines in March, starting in Bahrain and Jeddah before jetting off to Melbourne in April and Montreal in May. Action resumes in June with the iconic streets of Monaco, followed immediately by back-to-back weekends at Silverstone and Spielberg. Once the summer break clears, the racing picks right back up at Monza before heading over to Madrid.
The schedules start to diverge slightly in the final stretch. F2 takes on Azerbaijan as the sole supporting championship in September before both series converge in Istanbul, which marks the end of the road for the F3 season. F2 then caps off its year by travelling to Mexico at the end of October, followed by the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali pointed to the importance of the calendar, stating: "The 2027 FIA Formula 2 calendar will deliver another exciting season of racing across 14 rounds at some of the most iconic and challenging venues in world motorsport, including the addition of Istanbul and Mexico City." He added that the category serves as the ultimate pathway for young talent to showcase their skills on the grandest stage.
FIA Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel highlighted the logistical effort behind the expansion, noting: "I’m very excited to add three new venues in a financially sustainable way, with the return of Montreal following its surprise addition in 2026 and the first appearance of Istanbul and Mexico City. We will be covering freight costs so that the territorial expansion of the calendar does not financially impact our teams."
